Sink your teeth into The Strain

If you haven't been reading Chuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro's The Strain from Dark Horse comics, now's you're chance to get caught up on what's one of the most original pieces of vampire fiction in years.

Publisher Dark Horse (one of our very favorite companies here on the 'Spark) is collecting the first six issues of the book into graphic novel form. Featuring tales from the mind of David Lapham and pencils by the excellent Mike Huddleston, The Strain is an adaptation of Del Toro and Hogan's trilogy of novels bearing the same name.

Volume #1 of the series binds the first six issues together and is a fantastic read and a great intro (duh) to the Strain universe.
When a Boeing 777 lands at JFK International Airport and goes dark on the runway, the Centers for Disease Control, fearing a terrorist attack, calls in Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of expert biological-threat first responders. Only an elderly pawnbroker from Spanish Harlem suspects a darker purpose behind the event—an ancient threat intent on covering mankind in darkness.
Also if you haven't read the book- shame on you. No vamp fan (or even just horror fan) should miss out on this one. The Strain is an extremely new take on everybody's favorite bloodsuckers. Quite frankly, it's not to be missed.
