So... What is the Darkness Anyway?

The sequel to the cult hit FPS, The Darkness, is just a little over a year away and it's already looking in fine form. Due next October, the further adventures of series star Jackie Estacado will be bringing it's signature demon arms and brand new quad wielding features to the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Pantheon Books has Free panties at NYCC

Yes, you read that right. Free. Panties.

Pantheon Books, who'll be showing off The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Anne Rice's The Wolf Gift among other properties, will be giving out a load of freebies to fans stopping by their booth at the NYCC October 13-16.

Among the offerings are free panties that were quite the hit at the San Diego show. For the record, the undies are emblazoned with the Yiddish word 'unterzakhn'. Which means 'beneath the surface' or 'underwear' in English. It's to promote the book of the same name by Leela Corman.

So stop by booth #1041, say hi, and get a pair of bloomers. Oh, and read on for the full Pantheon NYCC2011 lineup-

Jawbone's Jambox 2.1 Update Released

Fan of the Jambox by Jawbone? The little bluetooth boombox that could already provides for an awesome sound experience, but now it just got a lil' bit better.

Update 2.1 is now live for MyTalk users and it provides for some pretty cool upgrades to the system. Although it isn't all that beefy, 2.1 provides a few new bells and whistles including an enhanced sound clarity feature that controls distortion and a LiveAudio option that, when switched on, will simulate live listening.

Full release with all the new stuff (but that is kind of all there is) post jump-

Back to the Future Goes on iSale on iPad

Telltale's Back to the Future series of adventure games is a favorite of mine. They're packed with classic BttF stuff and the voice work is outta this world. But if you've been on the fence about them, now's the time to get on (hover)board. The game's are available on PC, Mac, PS3, and iDevice- but from now till September 30th, the iPad versions are on sale for $2.99 each.

I can't recommend these games enough if you're a BttF fan, or even if you just like adventure titles. You can get 'em (starting with episode 1) right here.

Review: Driver: Renegade (3DS)

The long running, and recently resurgent, Driver franchise makes it's debut on the Nintendo 3DS. But does a portable Tanner still have the skills of his console cousins?

Inhale Your Fruit with Kirby

Nintendo's very own pink puffball, Kirby, has a brand new 3DS DS title about to debut called Mass attack. In the game, Kirby can not only employ his usual method of bad guy elimination (eating them) but he can also multiply himself up to ten times by chomping (natch) on fruit.

While you're working on digesting that disturbing image, why not digest something else? Nintendo is celebrating the launch of the newest entry in the series with a roving snack truck. The iced treat wagon will be making appearances in Huston, San Francisco, and right here in NYC.

The New York meet will, of course, take place in Rockefeller Center at the Nintendo Flagship Store. There you'll be able to get some hands on time with Mass Attack and enjoy some comped frozen fruit treats. Eating the fruit bars will, in all likelihood, not allow you to clone yourself in any way though.

Just thought that was worth mentioning.

Nintendo Download- 9/8/11

This week's Nintendo Download showcases another lineup of so-so offerings while we all await the second wave of 3DS Ambassador offerings. Honestly, the Big N has been so generous with the 20 freebies that it's hard to disparage them for the week after week of ho-hum that the eShop has been churning out.

Hard, but not impossible...

Kneel Before (Giant) Zod!!

Really interesting little story picked up by superherohype about the filming of General Zod in the Superman reboot- Man of Steel.

In a nutshell, Michael Shannon (the actor playing Zod) confirms the fact that Kal-El's nemesis will be motion captured and that director Zach Snyder said the final visual will be "so badass when we're done. Trust me, it's going to be wicked.'"

Now in earlier behind the scenes pics, Shannon was seen wearing a mo-cap suit with a giant pole coming up out of his back that stretched a good distance above his head. It easily doubled his height. We're left to wonder just what the final design of Zod will be. If he is, in fact, that tall- might this be a melding of the original Zod with the suit of powered armor worn by the second Zod (a Russian experiment in creating their own Superman) in the comics.

Either way, Zod's look is likely to be one of the big surprises held back until the film debuts. If there's anything more to tell in the meantime, we'll have it here.
