DJ Hero 2 Soundtrack Scratched Out

Following hot on the heals of Rock Band, another of the biggest music games for this holiday season- DJ Hero's full list of cuts is available for your perusal.

I'm not the biggest fan of the whole DJ 'thing' but this looks to be a very solid list with a lot of the artists you'd expect and some very catchy beats to spin.

Full list of over 100 (!) jams after the jump-

Rock Band 3 Complete Set List Revealed

Overall, it's a pretty nice list- I think there's a general thought process that goes on in the mind when you read through something like this. You know, 'Why the hell's that there? Where's -fill in name of obscure band-' I always hear so much of that kind of stuff whenever music game track lists are released. Just try to look upon the info after the break with a kind eye won't you?

Mtv has done a really nice job with the Rock Band series and I think they deserve a little slack. And the 'by decade' breakdown is awesome- while we're on the subject of rock by the decade, there's not nearly enough 70s and 80s stuff for my taste... just sayin'.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 Updates It's Roster

Capcom adds Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu to the all star lineup.

Now I'm sure you all know who Joe is, but Dormammu might be another story. All you need to know is that he's a Dr. Strange villain, he's a demon, he's got beef with Dante (so, so, cool), and he's a hell of a lot better than Blackheart. Hate Blackheart.

You know who I really want in this game? Ghost Rider- the Danny Ketch, '90s version. Think about it... I'll give you a second.

Nintendo Dates it's Big Releases for the rest of the Year

So I've been pretty hard on Nintendo for it's crappy network updates, and for good reason. But there's a real bright spot and it just so happens to be what the Big N's fans really care about- exclusives and first party releases for 2010. The rest of the year holds some real gems for Wii owners. These are my picks for the rest of the year take a look-
  • Metroid Other M - August 31st
  • Kirby's Epic Yarn - October 17th
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns - November 21st
  • NBA Jam - October 5th
  • Goldeneye 007 - November
  • Sonic Colors - November 16th
The rest of the list is after the break-

Nintendo Download -- 'Mynotebook' edition

Clearly the stand out this week in the Big N's download update is the awesome mynotebook carbon. It's a notebook. And that's it, juuust a notebook. It has pages, you can write notes, you can make doodles.

No Virtual Console games either. *sigh*

New Warhammer 40k: Space Marine Shots

And lo, THQ did raise it's mighty bolter and fired. Hot screenshots blasted across the interwebs and lodged themselves in The Angry Spark dot com- and when the smoke had cleared... they show, as bright as[[[[[ a thousand suns, nay, ten thousand suns- for all to see... after the break

Crysis 2 Falls to 2011

Mtv's Multiplayer Blog is reporting (and Crytek is confirming) that the highly anticipated sequel to 2006's graphics benchmark will indeed not make it to retail shelves this year. The new launch date for Crysis 2 wil be... March 22, 2011.

For a game that was talked up quite vociferously by both it's publisher and head writer as better than the Call of Duty's and Halo's of the world, you'd think they'd get it onto store shelves in time to compete against them. You'd think... but you'd be wrong.

It does look pretty though.

The Virtual Boy Turns 15

I liked the VB. I know nobody else did, but actually enjoyed the thing. I have pretty fond memories of Wario, Teleroboxer, that vertical shooter... thing. Good times...

Anyway, there's a fun look back at Nintendo's first foray into the wonderful world of 3D at Wired.com

Word of warning though, there are no punches pulled. And you'll probably realize that the VB really never was all that great, even if you thought it was. At the time. Maybe that time was last week, maybe it wasn't. I admit nothing.

Here's hoping the 3DS fares better.

Trapped Dead - the First Zombie RTS

That's what developer Crenetic is touting it as and, try as I might, I can't think of another- so I shall tentatively proclaim them correct.

The game is based in the small middle American town of Hedge Hill, which is apparently close to Kansas City (sequel!) Story wise, the game is honestly pretty inventive:
Our story takes place in the early 80s in a small town names Hedge Hill near Kansas City, Missouri. The sowing of a new genetically modified type of corn caused the existence of a new virus which mutated through the natural food chain. A dog bite of an infected animal caused a local outbreak of the virus which rapidly infected the inhabitants of the idyllic provincial town. Mike and Gerald, two college boys, are thrown into the middle of a terrifying horror scenario. Having pulled over to a gas station near Hedge Hill during what was meant to be an enjoyable road trip, they are unaware of the virus which has already reached the gas station and its staff…
Not bad at all- I love the time period, I love the Romero-esque setting, and the RTS gameplay is really a neat idea for a survival horror game. The only problem right now that there's no North American release scheduled on the Trapped Dead site. (www.trappeddead.com)

Come on Germans! Buy this game so we can get it over here!

Call of Duty Gets Hardened and Prestige Yet Again

Xbox 360 version shown
The newest game in the long running series will be getting the dual special edition treatment just like Modern Warfare did with both 'Hardened' and 'Prestige' editions.

The Hardened version will include a Black Ops 'Medal' (just for you!), a Black Ops Avatar outfit, and 4 maps for 'the multiplay'.

The Prestige edition has all that plus *ahem* a remote control surveillance rover that transmits color video and sound up to 200 feet. The night vision goggles with MW2 were cool but this is just plain old awesome.

Special editions continue to get carried away with themselves- and I loves it.

No pricing yet on these but you can expect them to drop on launch day, November 9th. For every console... known to man!

Bioshock Infinite Takes Off in 2012

Seemingly from out of nowhere comes the next game in the acclaimed Bioshock series- Bioshock Infinite. The newest 'shock takes place not in the familiar confines of Rapture but in the all new floating city of Columbia!

I'm not sure if leaving Rapture is sitting all that well with me yet. I enjoyed the first game immensely and I liked the followup almost as much- leaving all that rich back story and history... I don't know yet. Of course the good part here is that series creator Ken Levine and Irrational games (formerly 2k Boston) are running the show again.

For those who don't know, the second entry in the series was helmed by 2k Marin, who did a great job telling the story of one of the first Big Daddy's in the sort-of-prequel-sequel.

But Levine does make an excellent point- Firefights at 30,000 feet? Yeah that sounds good.

New Borderlands DLC Incomming

Castro-bot?
You've got to hand it to 2K games, they've really thrown their weight behind Borderlands. It was an unproven and new IP that stopped halfway through development and changed it's whole graphics engine, that had to have made them maybe just a little nervous. Of course there was no reason to be, in the end the game got some very nice scores from the critics and sold pretty well!

So what does the public get for all of this? A ton of DLC of course! Developer Gearbox has pumped out a steady stream of quality downloadables rivaled only by the likes of Fallout 3: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and Mad Moxxi's Underdome riot were all well received. That shouldn't change much for the newest Borderlands adventure, Claptrap's New Robot Revolution.

It seems there's an uprising of Claptraps led by the nefarious Ninja Assassin... bot... and you've gotta stop 'em! It sounds good and looks like a lot of fun.

But... I have to admit that I never really got into Borderlands. It just seemed way too grind-y for my tastes. So I tip my hat to both developer and publisher for having the guts to not only put out a new property, but for backing it and standing by it. Yes I tip my hat- but will not empty my pocket.

Details after the break-

Goldeneye Wii Remake to include Goldencontroller in Bundle

Along side the regular release version of Goldeneye for the Wii will be one packed in with this lovely (?) golden classic controller. Not a bad idea really, the N64 version of the game was meant to be played with a stick, not a wiimote- if I didn't have a CC already, I'd probably be getting this.

Of course, if you have a classic pad, well, then this is pretty useless.

Nintendo Download -- 'Forget about the Virtual Console' edition

It's almost been as many weeks since we've gotten a real classic on the VC, that we've actually gotten a game on the VC.

Just play taps already...

Blood Bowl Gets Legendary This Fall

Blood Bowl is a game that's very near and dear to my heart. I played the hell out of the original PC game years ago and even played the table top game a few times. There's just something magical about the idea of a football game set in a really brutal fantasy world that I freakin' love.

The current BB title, released last winter for the PC and this past spring for the Xbox 360, is a pretty nice little game in and of itself. But it's about to get a whole lot better-

Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition adds 11 more playable races to the league bringing the total team count to a massive 20! There's also a new Story mode that casts players as a coach and bounces them between a few of the teams leading up to a championship game. The new mode also unveils the history of the Blood Bowl league and it's world.

The press release and some more shots of the Amazon's are after the break-

Batman: Arkham City Officially Announced

Yup, it's official- Arkham City is not a reference to Gotham in general though. It's actually a max security prison built into the heart of the city. I'm going  to guess that at some point somebody escapes and you get to experience at least a little of Batman's town.

There are no shots yet and no video other than the one we've seen already, but the release date has been announced - it's Fall... of 2011.

*sigh*

'Minerva's Den' A New Single Player Bioshock Expansion Coming Soon

Hot off the 2k Marin presses!

Bioshock 2 gets in on some single player DLC with Minerva's Den-

2K Games announced today Minerva’s Den*, an all-new single-player focused downloadable game add-on for BioShock® 2 that introduces new characters, locations and mystery to the fiction-rich world of Rapture. In development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows-LIVE, Minerva’s Den is a self-contained narrative experience that puts players in the role of an all-new character who has teamed up with Brigid Tenenbaum to unravel a dictator’s stranglehold on a key district in the distinctive city under the sea.

Now this is more like it!  Protector Trials with waves of enemies and multiplayer stuff is great and all but Bioshock is a single player experience when it's at it's best- it's nice to see a little solo love... that doesn't sound right but Imma leave it anyway.

There's a bit more description after the break but no release date or price yet-

PSN Update - 'Little Big Marvel Earthworm Sale' Edition

Pretty good update this week actually. We get the looooong awaited Marvel pack for Little BIG Planet, Earthworm Jim HD (finally), and some good sales on full game downloads for the PSP & PS3 - seriously.

Oh and there's a ton of PSOne classics this week! They came out of nowhere! No. Not really. I'm kidding. There's nothing. Sorry.

Harmony of Despair Now Darkening Xbox's Everywhere

The much anticipated Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is now available for download on LIVE for the sum of 1200 American, uh, make that mspts.

Nintendo Download -- 'BlayzBloo' edition

What would you say if I told you that there was a new DSiWare game that featured a couple of the characters from the niche 'Blaze Blue' fighting game series? Now what would you say if I told you that said characters were superdeformed! But wait- don't answer yet! There's more! What if this fantastic new game featured a gimped fighting engine and five 'stages' of 'action'? Now what's your answer?!?

Yeah, I figured. There's also no Virtual Console stuff again. Did they kill it without telling anyone?
