Review: Gang Wars (PS Mini)

An arcade classic from the vaults of SNK Playmore, Gang Wars is a beat 'em up with all the sensibilities you'd expect from an arcade game circa 1989- it's also tons of fun.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 drops this Fall

The sequel to the popular PSP semi-RPG will be landing on store shelves this Fall:

Taking place three years after the end of the story missions that occur during Phantasy Star Universe, the denizens of the Gurhal System have dispatched the menace of the SEED — but the war effort has cost them, and with dwindling resources the game’s heroes will travel & take on entirely new challenges.

First screens after the break.

PSP2 at E3 - unconfirmed! speculated!

Maybe is the keyword here so please- grain of salt.

Read the article on Edge. It does make for a very 'read between the lines' type thing. Just do me the favor of not getting too excited.

Metal Gear Solid PSP bundles announced & detailed

The new MGS game, Peace Walker, is arguably the biggest release for the PSP in the last few years and is definitely the biggest release for 2010.

Along side the UMD (I haven't heard about the digital version), there will also be a pair of special bundle packages offered. The first is the usual bundle that we're all used to- it includes a 2gig memory stick and a special 'camo' PSP. The second is a little better- the 'Big Boss' package includes the game, a 2gig stick, a camo PSP, a military green carry case, and special Metal Gear packaging.

As long as the package includes a carry case and some kind of different packaging it just seems soooo much more *special*

The PSP is 5 years old today!

Yay?

There really hasn't been much to celebrate in PSP land for a while actually. The console is strong in Japan but relatively weak here in the US, running a perennial second to the Nintendo DS. Games (that are any good) have been a rarity as well. If you walk into your local Best Buy, you'll find a bunch of titles that are quite old- Toys R Us barely even carries anything.

And to top all of that off, we have the massive flop that is the PSPGo. A nice little system that didn't get any backing and had nothing going for it in the pricing department either since most games on the PSN can be had a lot cheaper at your local Gamestop.

Not really something I'd brag about- and I love my PSP by the way. Some of the older games are great- we just need some new ones... thanks God for Metal Gear.

PSP Go takes a beating from Travellers Tale's Boss

Read the piece on Joystiq

Excellent points. I'm very happy that I didn't sell my PSP 3000 personally- and I'm very close to selling my Go.

I was in love with the thing when I bought it and I still am, but the pricing structure is just flat broken. I had always thought that the game downloads would be at a discount over UMD's but they're exactly the same. If that's the case, then I'd rather just buy the disc's and take advantage of all the holiday sales.

Ain't no buy one get one half off on the PSN.

Know who's giving you free comic books for your PSP?

Sony! Head on over here for a free issue of Transformers: All Hail Megatron #1. When you're done there, go here, for a gratis issue of Star Trek: The Enterprise Experiment.

AND, when you snag both of those, go here for a bonus copy of Astroboy. Okay, okay, so that last one is 't kinda weak- don't complain! You just got some Trek  & Transformers for nuttin'!

I think you did pretty good for a Saturday morning.

Oh, by the way, make sure you check that Sony Twitter often, there might be more codes to be had-

UMD for DLC initiative for the PSP Go

Sony has announced a plan to provide digital copies of UMD's already owned by folks who want to upgrade to a Go over their current model PSP, whichever one that may be. (I still have a 1000)

Good idea. My collection of UMD's is a big blockade when it comes to me personally switching over to a Go. The thought of buying a title over again isn't really that appealing.

Bundle-mania!!!

More Sony news today as the PS daddies announced a PS3 bundled with the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4 will drop this summer. The console will be an 80gigger, Snake will be 80 years old and the package price is $499.00- Though it really would have benefited that sentence if it was $480. Too bad.

Also in the pipeline is a frickin' sweet red 'God of War' themed PSP. Now here's a cool setup- included in the box will be GOW: Chains of Olympus, Superbad on UMD, and a voucher for a free game download from the Playstation Network. Nice. Really nice. If they left Superbad out it would have been even better.

The whole shootin-match goes for $199 American.
