We have a Situation...

Just to let everybody know, we're switching over to a custom domain from our current home at blogger. Things are not going... Well.

Bottom line is that we're having all kinds of problems so I'm going to keep the spark right here for now- hopefully some time soon you'll be redirected over to theangryspark.com.

And there will be much rejoicing.

Dungeon Siege 3 Screens looks Siegetastic!

The Skeleton King
A Gross Little Guy

I was a huge fan of the original Dungeon Siege, many an hour did I spend plunged into the awesome world that game created. The second one... not so much.

This, however, looks excellent. DS3 is being developed for the 360, PS3, & PC. Can't wait.

Street Fighter X Tekken announced at ComiCon!

This whole 'versus' thing in fighting games can just keep on keepin' on as far as I'm concerned- the latest in the series is Street Fighter X (reads as 'cross') Tekken and is actually going to be a pair of titles. Namco will produce Tekken X Street Fighter and Capcom will produce (you guessed it) Street Fighter X Tekken. The Capcom made game is the further along at this point with a full teaser and renders being shown off at the Con.

Check out the renders and the pressy after the break-

Street Fighter X Tekken (& presumably the alternate Namco version)
will be available for the PS3 & Xbox 360 next year

Nintendo Download - 'Aero the Acrobat' Edition

Aaaaand the drought continues.

This week we get the Super NES 'classic' Aero the Acrobat for the VC. What else, what else...

Bunch of c.r.a.p to he honest.

DC Universe Online Trailer Looks Cool Has No Actual Gameplay

As a comic book fan I have some little problems with that video. Also as a comic book fan I freakin love it.

This just in, Superman is is a total badass.

Apple iPhone Case Giveaway Begins

If you have an iPhone 4, you might want to head over to the App store on said iDevice and download the 'Case Program' app. Once you access it you'll have to input your iTunes password, you'll  then be presented by a pretty nice selection of cases that you can order- on the house of course. A lot of people think the 'Bumper' is all you can get but that's far from the case.

There's a fairly wide selection of clear, black, rubberized, and hard cases to choose from. I took the plaid- Basically because it's not something I would ever actually buy for myself.

Thor & Amaterasu Confirmed for Marvel vs Capcom 3

A new pair of confirmations today straight from ComiCon for next year's MvC3- A pair of gods to be exact, The Thunder God himself Thor will indeed be in the game along with another divine character, Amaterasu from Okami.

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions Shots

First off, after Web of Shadows, I was not in any way going to get excited about this game. It's not that WoS was bad, it was okay- it's just that I expected so much more from a comic book tie-in game. You know, no baggage from the movies to worry about, just a pure Spider-Man comic book-type story. I suppose that is what Shadows was, it was just so lacking in so many areas that it kind of got dull after a while.

Spider-Man Noir
Shattered Dimensions, which I guess would technically be the sequel to last years game, looks pretty good though. The story surrounds a mystical tablet that gets busted up during a fight. It somehow ends up stuck in four separate dimensions and has to be re-assembled to put things right again. Which is pretty much an excuse to do four different Spider-Man games at the same time.

Right now, all four Spidey's are looking great- their universes are nicely detailed and it seems like things are coming together nicely.

I'm going to cross my fingers, while I do that- check out some more new shots after the breakage.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters Coming Next Summer

I'm going to guess that the game is a follow-up story to the movie, which is also coming out next Summer, since the Manhunters have nothing to do with Parallax (the movie villain).

The game will be published by Warner Bros Interactive, which might actually be good and will reportedly feature light constructs, flying through space, and taking down intergalactic criminals. Sounds sufficiently Green Lantern-y to me. Please be decent... I'm a big Lantern fan.

Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is coming next Summer for all major consoles

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair ComiCon Images and Details

Alucard returns on August 4th (right around the bend!) along with some other fan favorite's for a return to the 2D splendor of the past before we plunge into the 3D (and absolutely amazing looking) world of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. That game coming this fall for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

But before we go there, we go here: an old school romp with a twist - four simultaneous players - and one awesome zoom-out feature! With the zoom, you can get a complete look at the area you're in and see all players on the board, as well as all the baddies.

It's a really unique feature to the series and adds a nice little hook to the title. Not that it really needs one, I'm pretty sure all you have to do to ensure a download is mention Castlevania and 2D in the same sentence.

Anyway, Castlevania: HoD will be available on LIVE August 4th as a part of the annual 'Summer of Arcade' promotion for 1200mspts.

Immediate purchase? Yeah I think so.

Brand New Fable 3 Screens Surface at ComiCon

Looking very nice indeed-

Aragorn Quest's for New Screenshots

I think a lot of people had made up their minds about Aragorn's Quest when they heard that it was going to be 'kid friendly' and not quite so grim and gritty- which is something more along the lines of what 'Rings fans were expecting. It definitely has a cartooney look, but I like it.

The art style is clean but detailed and actually reminds me a bit of the 'Animated' style statues from Sideshow Toys. Check out the screens after the break and draw your own conclusions but I'm starting to like the looks of this one.

DC Universe Online Adds Some Heavy Hitters

How do you like Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark 'I'll never play the Joker again' Hamill as Joker? Yeah that's what I thought.

They'll both be reprising their roles for DCU Online along with a bunch of other stars like James Marsters as Lex Luthor and Adam Baldwin as Superman.

DC Universe Online launches this November 2nd for the PS3 and PC

Subscriptions are ten bucks a month

Starcraft 2 Midnight Launch Event

Believe it or not, the original game came out in 1998. That's quite a long spell for rabid fans of the game to wait for the sequel. But here we are, only a few short days away- the game is looking terrific, I'll be picking it up on day one. If you'd like to get it just a bit sooner, you might want to plan on attending one of the midnight launches.

start transmission

Blizzard Entertainment today announced its plans for the official North American midnight launch event for StarCraft® II: Wings of LibertyTM, the long-anticipated sequel to 1998's critically acclaimed real-time strategy game, StarCraft. The event will take place at Fry's Electronics at 10800 Kalama River Avenue in Fountain Valley, CA, with activities starting at 9 p.m. on July 26, and sales of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beginning at midnight.

"We're looking forward to celebrating the launch of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty with our community at the official launch event here in Southern California and at other locations worldwide," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "This is something we've been working toward for several years, and we're excited to soon be able to share the results of that work with gamers around the world."

As well as being among the first to acquire the game, attendees will have an opportunity to meet developers from Blizzard Entertainment, who will be present to welcome players and sign their copies. Live music, exhibition matches, and Q&A sessions with Blizzard Entertainment developers will also take place onsite. More details about the event can be found at http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/events/starcraft2-midnight-openings.html.

stop transmission

After the break we've got a detailed look at the special edition of the game which will also be available for purchase- find out why it just might be worth that extra $40.00 *hint- it involves a pair of classic games and World of Warcraft. Yes they managed to get it tied into Starcraft...

Thor Comes to Consoles

Don't get too excited. I did, because I really like the character- loved Thor comics when I was a kid. But then I found out it's Sega made. Hmmmmm, not the greatest track record with the movie properties.

Speaking of the movie- looks pretty good!

*sigh* press release after the break.

Madden 11 for iPhone Preview

Is it wrong that the iPhone version of Madden 11 is the one that I'm most looking forward to?

Maybe. Maybe not... either way, here's a look at the upcoming footballer for the phone that plays games better than it receives calls- I keed, I keed...

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds was one of the most impressive titles shown off at e3 and we're about to learn a little more about the biggest fighter of 2011!

Kinect Bundles and Pricing Now Official

What you see above is the 4GB Kinect Bundle. It includes one of the new 4gig 360's (that will also go on sale all by themselves next month at the $199 price point), Kinect Adventures, and of course the Kinect unit itself. Pretty nice bundle deal- goes on sale this November the 4th for the price of $299 American.

Some more details about Kinect and the new 360 unit:
  • The games will run $49.99ea
  • Kinectimals, Kinect Sports, and Kinect Joyride will all be available at launch
  • The stand-alone Kinect unit will retail for $149.99 and will include Kinect Adventures
  • Both sku's (bundle and regular pack) launch on November 4th
  • No Bundle deal right now featuring the new 250GB 360, only the 4GB
  • The new console will have an expansion bay for a Hard Drive but there are no details on that right now *just a note on that- if you were to use a flash drive, then you really wouldn't need a hard drive anyway. You could easily make this have 20gigs of storage if you include the onboard 4GB's.
My thoughts on all this after the break. I'm starting to feel a little meh about it.

Nintendo Download -- 'Must be Summer' Edition

Well... not much to see here unless you're into 3 on 3 mystical basketball. No?

Was worth a shot...

What is Mega Man Universe?

I really don't know.

There's something new. It's something Mega Man. It's most likely a PSN/LIVE game... or something.

Read on for more (?)

Blood Stone meets Joss Stone

If you're a Bond fan (James Bond that is, not the all-girl classical music troupe) then you most likely know that the latest film in the franchise has been unceremoniously canceled in favor of more Downey-Holmes.

What that doesn't mean is that we won't be getting any Bond at all. Enter James Bond: Blood Stone.

Blood Stone will feature all of the main characters from the re-boot films including Daniel Craig as Bond and will have a brand new storyline and new Bond girl - Joss Stone, who will also be providing the theme song for the game, 'I'll Take it All'.

The game is being developed by Bizarre Creations so you already know to expect some great driving sequences along with all the gunplay. There's no release date yet but I would probably expect this one next year since we've already got the Craig-infused remake of Goldeneye on tap for the Wii this fall.

Visit 007.com for more on the game(s)

Wheelchairs of the World, Thy Time Has Come-

Probably the next best thing next to actually re-growing limbs and nerve endings and connective tissue (which I'm sure is on the way) has to be cybernetic replacements for the aforementioned hardware. Well, get ready-

The REX exoskeleton has just become the first mass-market (though at $150,000, it's not that mass market) device to do just that. Engadget has the complete story up with shots and video- REX basically gives a paraplegic the ability to walk again, and there is no price that can be placed on that.

You know, a while ago futurist Ray Kurzweil said that this current century would bring a hundred fold the innovations of the last. He made some pretty far out predictions about what we all might be seeing during our lifetimes- real deep space travel, a world wide neural net, conscious machines -REX might not be in that league of 'amazing', but it certainly is a step in the right direction.

The (Announced) Games of 2010/2011

As brought to you by Kotaku-

They've really done a very cool job here assembling a pretty comprehensive list of the biggest games that are yet to come this year and those that will be coming along in '11.

Some of these are real surprises to me- I had thought quite a few of the 2011 games were coming this Fall.

Untangling The Games Of 2010 From The Games of 2011

Dragon Age 2 Announced

Wow, that was really fast- and this is no change-a-couple-things-slight-bump-in-graphics-and-that's-it-instagame-sequel either. According to Kotaku, there's a brand new gameplay system and graphic style to go along with the new adventure.

Sounds pretty good to me-

I have to admit though, I never got into Origins. It's not that I didn't like it, not at all- I actually thought what I did play of it was quite good -I just didn't have the time to invest into it. But that tends to happen a lot to me when playing RPG's. It's so rare that I get to finish one and really take the time to enjoy the experience.

That's mainly why I stick to shooters and action stuff- I actually get to enjoy the whole story (even if it's not that good)

PSN Update -- 'Marvelous Pirate Monkey' edition

Some good stuff to be had amongst the filler in this PSN Update.

The first thing I have to mention is that the Marvel Comics costume and level pack is finally available for Little big Planet. Huzzah. That only took, like, forever.

There's also a downloadable game you might be interested in if you like the classics- That being Monkey Island 2. I'll be getting this one in part just to support the resurgence of adventure games in general.

It always has been one of my favorite genre's and seeing it all but disappear completely form the gaming landscape was a sad experience.
